Data breach notice reveals Michigan hospital staff violated privacy of UK influencer

A social media superstar from England was traveling the U.S. on a quest for comedic TikTok and Instagram content. Shortly after arriving back home, a data breach notice from a Michigan hospital arrived in the mail.

In a video posted on Instagram, Joshua Cauldwell-Clarke said he was admitted to the unnamed facility while traveling with his friend and fellow influencer Jason Riley. The duo visited Michigan and chronicled much of their trip online. But at some point, for reasons Cauldwell-Clarke did not reveal in his video, he required emergency medical attention.

He added that he expected he may receive communications related to the incident, but not something that started with “Notice of Data Breach.” But the alert wasn’t sent because of a hack or ransomware attack—instead, it seems fans working at the hospital violated his privacy.

“It says in this letter: We recently learned that on January 18th, January 19th, 2026, several ‘name of the hospital’ employees accessed your electronic health record without a work-related reason for doing so," Cauldwell-Clarke said.

"This worries me."

It’s unclear if the letter provided more details, such as what personal data was viewed by whom and if any disciplinary action was taken. But it appears that one or more individuals may have accessed ways to contact the travelog influencer.

He said he made the video for the purpose of asking people to—please—respect his privacy and not take advantage of their authority.

"The fact there's people out there now who know my personal address, and I keep parts of my life very private. They know where I live. They know a lot of information about me without my permission," Cauldwell-Clarke added. "I do ask if I ever enter your place of work, and I have to go over personal information, please do not take advantage of your right of access to that information."

He thanked the hospital—which he opted not to name—for the letter, but pleaded with healthcare staff at the facility to do better.

“Please do not take advantage of your role at work and access my personal information without a work-related reason," the content creator said.

Cauldwell-Clarke and Riley are together known as “Josh and Jase” online. They produce videos that compare and contrast British culture to other places in the world, in this case America. Their YouTube channel has nearly 300,000 subscribers, in addition to their millions of collective followers on other platforms.

A video on the channel shows the duo sledding in Michigan at high rates of speed as part of their journey stateside.
