R.I. EHR nonprofit donates services to Mass. collaborative

The Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative (MAeHC) announced that the Electronic Health Records of Rhode Island (EHRRI), a nonprofit comprised of five Rhode Island-based physician groups with the purpose of facilitating the adoption and use of EHRs, has donated activities and operations to MAeHC.

As part of MAeHC, members of the former EHRRI team will continue to provide a Rhode Island presence, representation on committees and maintaining relationships with existing EHRRI customers, according to MAeHC, of Waltham, Mass. To ensure these continued operations, MAeHC has leased EHRRI’s offices at One Davol Square in Providence and will continue to support EHRRI customers.

Under the agreement, MAeHC doing business as EHRRI will expand on the model of local practice implementation, support and education for Rhode Island providers while capitalizing on MAeHC’s vendor neutral experience in the areas of strategic advisory services, patient centered medical home, health information exchange and quality data warehousing and analysis via MAeHC’s proprietary Quality Data Center.

Additionally, MAeHC will establish a Rhode Island advisory committee which will include EHRRI directors or designees and Rhode Island-based physicians, the organization stated.
