Infinite Peripherals Transforms Hospitals and Healthcare with New Infinea X for iPod touch and iPhone 5

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. – April 7, 2015 – Leading enterprise mobility device provider Infinite Peripherals, Inc. (IPC) today introduced the Infinea X, a new mobile solution that handles multiple tasks to enhance patient care and ultimately improve the overall patient experience. Attaching to the Apple® iPod touch 5th generation or iPhone 5, the MFi-certified Infinea X includes a 2D scanner, capable of reading 1D and 2D barcodes, plus RFID read/write capabilities, multi color LED visuals and a microphone/speaker system to allow for communication through the iOS device.

“We’re disrupting the industry with the Infinea X,” said John Vargas, director of mechanical design engineering at IPC. “We designed it based on conversations with key members of the medical community – from hospitals and electronic medical record (EMR) providers to doctors and nurses – who shed light on specific scenarios, applications and industry-specific needs that had not yet been fulfilled by an all-inclusive single mobile device.”

By automating procedures and recording data that can be integrated with EMR infrastructures, the Infinea X saves medical professionals significant administrative time, thereby enabling them to focus more on patient care. For example, nurses can save up to several hours per shift by using the Infinea X. This is largely due to automated data entry, as the device transmits all data – including drugs administered – securely and wirelessly to the network in real time. Less manual data entry also means greater accuracy in EMR. And the multi-functional Infinea X can streamline and replace the variety of single-use equipment currently used in hospitals, such as tethered or wireless barcode scanners, pagers, laptops and functions performed by portable workstations on wheels.

With a ruggedized case with IP54+ dust/fluid protection, built-in antimicrobial materials, protective tempered glass and a four-foot drop impact, the Infinea X can be completely sanitized – a critical function in any medical setting. Extended life batteries are user-replaceable in order to optimize productivity and keep the device operating seamlessly during extended usage scenarios.

The lightweight, portable and durable Infinea X provides a platform for developing applications for hospitals, such as:

Patient Care

·      Brings critical data anywhere/anytime, with real-time access to EMR

·      Expedites data entry and reporting

·      Facilitates positive patient identification and accurate drug administration

·      Supports push notifications, real-time workflows, secured communications and activity-based alerts

Pharmacy

·      Enables quick, automated operations, fulfillment and inventory

·      Supports Patient Bill of Rights for accuracy in drug administration

·      Delivers visual and audio notification and alerts to administering caregiver/pharmacist

Laboratory

·      Permits simple cross check of patient-to-lab orders

·      Generates lab specimen labels at point of care

The front speaker, enhanced rear speaker and microphone allow for convenient integration with a variety of communications software solutions. Also, the optional LED lights, which are controllable through the application/universal SDK and can be customized for each user, can immediately issue critical messages and alerts to medical staff audibly and visibly.
