eHealth Technologies Empowers Imaging Data Interoperability for Rochester RHIO

Rochester, N.Y., December 6, 2016 – eHealth Technologies, the leading provider of image-enabled Health Information Exchange (HIE) solutions, and the Rochester RHIO (Regional Health Information Organization), a regional HIE serving 13 counties in western New York State, continue to make progress with image data interoperability.

The Rochester RHIO has expanded its services by implementing eHealth Connect® Image Exchange Transfer-to-PACS workflow. This additional workflow empowers radiology and cardiology imaging department personnel to access a list of all external imaging studies for their patient from the Rochester RHIO Explore query portal, and nominate one or more relevant studies from that worklist to be transferred into their local PACS.  The system automatically updates the imaging study with the correct local patient medical record number (MRN), allowing it to become part of the patient record. As a result, radiologists and clinicians are able to easily access both current and prior images from within their everyday working environment thus enhancing the speed and quality of patient care at a significantly lower cost.

eHealth Technologies will be sharing more information about their Image Exchange product portfolio for HIEs at HIMSS17 in Orlando, Florida, Meeting Place Room 11 Hall A.   Click here to schedule a time to learn more.

“We are thrilled to assist the Rochester RHIO by adding this new workflow to our eHealth Connect® Image Exchange suite of services,” stated Gary Larson, Executive Vice President & General Manager, HIE Services.  “Streamlining the delivery of external prior imaging studies by leveraging our integration with the HIE will have a significant impact on costs, efficiency, and quality of care for the hospitals and other care providers in the Rochester area.”

“I really do love the Transfer to PACS workflow,” said Diana Frillici, Medical Records and PACS Administrator at Elizabeth Wende Breast Care. “It is much faster than using CDs and it is very convenient that the images go directly to the patient medical record, rather than having to reconcile the record after a patient’s images are imported. We are looking forward to finding ways of working together with the Rochester RHIO to increase opportunities for use.”
