Comcast is reinventing its health benefits for employees

Comcast is joining the ranks of Apple and Amazon as a company taking healthcare insurance benefits of employees into its own hands, The New York Times reported.

The Internet company is “the most interesting and creative employer when it comes to healthcare benefits,” Bob Kocher, MD, a partner at venture capital firm Venrock, told the NYT about Comcast.

The company spends roughly $1.3 billion annually on healthcare for employees and families with a low deductible of about $250 for most workers.

The healthcare benefits are in stark contrast to Comcast’s reputation of a poor customer service line, the NYT reported.
