Bon Secours Mercy Health launches digital holding company

Bon Secours Mercy Health, one of the top 20 largest health systems and the fifth-largest Catholic health system in the U.S., launched its own digital holding company.

The new company, Accrete Health Partners, will act as an investment arm in the company’s digital health services interests and partnerships. Accrete has a growing suite of end-to-end digital technology solutions and services that will create value for those wanting to provide improved healthcare and for patients.

The new company will be led by Jason Szczuka, who currently serves as chief digital officer for Bon Secours Mercy Health. Accrete will also form a coalition of provider systems, data and technology companies to bring digital solutions and services to market.

"Accrete will pave the way for innovative digital solutions and services to maximize their industry impact," Szczuka said in a statement. "We are excited to partner with innovative provider systems and technology companies that are innovating across the continuum of care. The products we invest in and build together will add value for health systems, patients and employers as standalone solutions, but also are interoperable and categorically aligned, unlocking even more value when leveraged together."

The company will focus on investments and partnerships in four main areas, including:

  • IT services––healthcare services and solutions that reduce downtime and cost inefficiencies, as well as protect provider, patient and system data.
  • Intelligence, data and analytics––better access to the right information at the right time, including through machine learning and AI.
  • Digital experience and engagement––developing digital solutions, capabilities and platforms that support the needs of patients and healthcare systems.
  • Innovation––a portfolio of strategic partnerships, investments and acquisitions of leading digital health tools and teams that add value and unlock new capabilities.

Bon Secours Mercy Health, based in Cincinnati, is the result of two merged Catholic health systems––Bon Secours and Mercy Health. The two merged in 2018.
