Xerox Ranked as a Leader for Innovative Health Insurance Services

NORWALK, Conn., Sept. 16, 2013 – Xerox (NYSE: XRX) was designated as one of the best positioned business process outsourcing (BPO) providers to support health insurance companies in complying with the Affordable Care Act.

Analyst firm HfS Research (HfS) placed Xerox in the Winner’s Circle – the top ranking – of the 2013 Healthcare Payer BPO Services Blueprint Report for its ability to execute and integrate technology into end-to-end voice and back-office services.

Among the innovations noted in the HfS report were the company’s virtual pill management system for facilitating patients’ medication adherence and health insurer access to their medical history. It also noted the ability to implement high-security call monitoring for work-at-home agents, and Xerox’s new call-center platform, which reduces training time for customer care agents by up to 50 percent and average handle time by 20 percent.

“When health insurance exchanges go live this fall, insurance providers will serve millions more individuals, in addition to their traditional client base,” said Jeff Hechemy, group president of Xerox healthcare payer and pharmaceutical services. “With a global footprint of more than 22,000 healthcare employees and a research team dedicated to innovation, Xerox is uniquely positioned to help our clients tackle the seismic challenges of healthcare reform.”

The HfS Blueprint Report rates service providers across numerous facets in two main categories: innovation and execution. Ratings are based on 1,355 responses from healthcare BPO buyers, service providers, industry influencers and HfS research analysts.

Xerox supports the top 20 U.S. commercial health plans, touching nearly two-thirds of the nation’s insured population and processing more than 900 million healthcare claims per year. Xerox provides BPO solutions to a range of industries, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, government, technology, communications, banking and financial services, travel, retail and education.
