Intermountain Healthcare CEO is leaving

Marc Harrison, MD, is stepping down as president and CEO of Intermountain Healthcare, a not-for-profit healthcare system based in Utah. He will transition from his role in the fall, according to a press release.

Harrison is moving on to a new leadership role running a healthcare platform business for General Catalyst. He has served as president and CEO at Intermountain Healthcare since 2016. The Intermountain Healthcare board will name an interim leader and conduct a national search for replacement this fall.

The CEO change comes as healthcare CEOs are stepping down from their roles at scale. In fact, CEO departures are up across industries in 2022, data from Challenger, Gray & Christmas has revealed. 

MemorialCare names chief strategy officer

MemorialCare, a Southern California health system, has appointed Laurie Sicaeros its chief strategy officer.

Sicaeros has served as chief operating officer at MemorialCare Medical Foundation since 2018. MemorialCare Medical Foundation is a physician organization, with more than more than 2,000 employed and affiliated physicians that are part of the MemorialCare Medical Group and Greater Newport Physicians. The Foundation also includes 225 outpatient surgery, imaging, urgent care, breast health, kidney dialysis, physical therapy and other health centers throughout Southern California. She also served as MemorialCare senior vice president of physician integration.

In addition to being named chief strategy officer, Sicaeros was also named leadership academy dean. She has served in other business management roles with MemorialCare, including business development, mergers and acquisitions and physician practice alignment. She has helped expand MemorialCare's footprint into an ambulatory network of primary and specialty care medical groups, Independent Practice Association (IPA) for physicians and outpatient center partnerships, as well as expand the MemorialCare Physician Society.
