Indiana fertility doc possibly impregnated patients with his own sperm

According to the Associated Press, a fertility doctor in Indianapolis is suspected of using his own sperm to impregnate potentially dozens of women in the 1970s and beyond.

The physician, Donald Cline, is charged with obstruction of justice (to which he pleaded not guilty Sept. 12) in relation to the case. Investigators said he obfuscated information showing that he originally admitted to using his own sperm up to 50 times instead of patient-approved donor sperm.

Even though Cline is now denying the use of his own sperm, at least eight adults now believe they are his biological children, based on the results of DNA tests.

Check out the Washington Post to see how national, state and professional guidelines could help or hurt Cline’s case.
