Sesame Street marketing executive moves to St. Jude
Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street? The new chief marketing officer for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's fundraising wing knows how to get there.
Samantha Maltin, the former marketing lead at Sesame Workshop—the nonprofit behind the long-running PBS show—has joined ALSAC, to help raise awareness of St. Jude’s research initiatives and fundraising drives.
In a statement, St. Jude said Maltin brings “25 years of experience as a brand leader, largely in the entertainment and media space,” with notable credits at the History Channel and Nickelodeon.
Now, she will bring her skills in marketing and promotion to healthcare.
“From the first moment I visited the St. Jude campus, I felt a deep connection to the mission of supporting the world’s most vulnerable children and families. Sharing their stories, inspiring compassion, and rallying support to make a lasting difference—that’s exactly where I want to dedicate my energy and my heart,” Maltin said in the statement. “I’m thrilled to work alongside the ALSAC team to further advance the impact of the lifesaving work of St. Jude and continue building hope for so many.”
During her tenure at Sesame Street, Maltin oversaw consumer engagement and strategic communications, including branding, social media, and event planning. She took on the role in 2019 and left in October for her new position at St. Jude.
Maltin plans to relocate to Memphis, Tennessee, where the main St. Jude campus is located.
It’s unclear if characters such as Big Bird and Ernie will make their way into future St. Jude outreach efforts, but it wouldn’t be without precedent. The television show’s characters have been known to make appearances alongside various brands and charities.
