LOUISVILLE, Ky.--For the second year in a row, Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) was ranked as the number one company for its ease of doing business with providers. Humana ranked number one in overall performance among 148 U.S. health insurers based on a review of 2013 claims-payment data conducted by athenahealth, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATHN).
athenahealth announced the rankings in the 2014 PayerView® Report, an annual report that leverages athenahealth’s cloud-based data across its national network of health care providers. The 2014 PayerView data set analyzes 108 million charge lines and $20 billion in health care services billed in 2013.

In addition to its number one ranking in overall performance, Humana was also ranked number one in PayerView for the following measures among major payers:
- Days in Accounts Receivable – Average amount of time it takes a provider to receive payment.
- Eligibility Accuracy – Measures how well the payer’s eligibility of benefits transaction predicts the outcome of a claim.
- Enrollment Efficiency – How easy it is for the provider to enroll in an electronic transaction with the payer.

The 2014 PayerView results rank commercial and government health insurers according to specific measures of financial, administrative, and transactional performance. Rankings are derived from athenahealth’s athenaNet® database, which to date includes more than 52,000 providers across 50 states.
