Harris Corporation Awarded $37 Million Contract to Improve Veterans’ Benefit Claims Process

MELBOURNE, Fla. & WASHINGTON -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and international technology company, has been selected to help improve the Veterans Benefits Administration’s (VBA) Enterprise Data Warehouse, the primary source for veterans’ benefits data and information.

Under a four-year, $37-million contract, Harris will provide the VBA’s Office of Performance Analysis and Integrity with technical services for the data warehouse including design, development, enhancement, integration, implementation, maintenance and infrastructure support.

The data warehouse contains data that is used for business intelligence reports for executive managers, business lines, and claims processing teams within the VBA’s 57 regional offices. The VBA also uses warehouse data to detect and prevent fraud, perform financial auditing and generate reports to Congress. Harris will provide predictive analytics to help drive new business intelligence capabilities to enhance that process.

“The accuracy and effectiveness of the Enterprise Data Warehouse is essential for improving the claims process at a time when there are a large number of veterans applying for benefits,” said Dr. Vishal Agrawal, president, Harris Healthcare Solutions. “Harris is proud to help the VBA to ensure that all of our veterans get the timely support they need.”

A nationally recognized leader in clinical connectivity, collaboration, and intelligence solutions, Harris offers a full range of interoperability solutions, including IT infrastructure and management, clinical workflow and analytics, health information exchange, and imaging. Harris solutions improve health-care quality, safety, efficiency, cost and outcomes by ensuring that the right information travels, with security and privacy, to the right person, at the right time, on the right device, at the point of care.
