Healthcare adds 46,000 jobs in May, up nearly a half a million for 2016

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor's May jobs report, the healthcare industry added 45,700 jobs in May, bringing the total number of jobs created in 2016 up to 487,000. Ambulatory services were responsible for 23,500 new positions, hospitals added 16,500 and nursing care facilities increased by more than 5,700. The only areas that saw a decline in positions were medical and diagnostic laboratories (a decline of 200 jobs) and vocational rehabilitation centers (1,400).
