Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute introduces new Director of Breast Surgery

The Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare Cancer Institute has announced their new director of the breast surgery program as Edward Sauter, MD, PhD, reports Fox61.

Coming from the University of Texas Health Science Center, Sauter has been practicing for 25 years, conducted 70 clinical research trials and referred more than 4,000 women to active clinical trials. He will lead the breast surgery programs at Hartford’s five cancer centers and aims to create resources for patients and their families.

"Incidents, the number of cases, is going up both in the U.S. and worldwide, the number of deaths from breast cancer is not," Sauter said. "It's preventing the disease, earlier detection and better treatment."
