DataMotion Success Ramps in Healthcare as 37 EHR Vendors Meet 2014 ONC-ACB Certification Criteria with Direct Secure
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – September 30, 2014 – DataMotion™, an experienced health information service provider (HISP) with the industry’s leading record of customer deployments and Meaningful Use Stage 2 (MU2) attestations, announced today that 37 electronic health record (EHR) vendors have rapidly achieved 2014 ONC-ACB certification using DataMotion's Direct secure messaging service as “relied upon software.” DataMotion has become the leading HISP for EHR enablement, and to date, nearly half of all EHR vendors that have successfully achieved certification, as well as many other diverse healthcare organizations, have done so through the quick and easy integration of its technology.
“We're passionate about enabling patients to access their health information so they can fully manage their care,” said Gena Cook, CEO of Navigating Cancer. “We chose DataMotion as our HISP to allow patients to share information privately and securely. Their knowledge, technology and support have been instrumental in obtaining our certification so that we can enable our growing provider network to meet Meaningful Use requirements.”
In related news, DataMotion has successfully connected its HISP platform with the HISP operated by New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC). Proven connectivity between DataMotion and NYeC means that healthcare entities wishing to exchange protected health information (PHI) using Direct Secure Messaging and via the Statewide Health Information Network of New York (SHIN-NY) can expect the highest standard of performance using DataMotion’s HISP services. Entities that select DataMotion’s Direct secure messaging services may also be eligible for funding under federal MU incentive payments and New York State’s funding for the ongoing expansion of the SHIN-NY.
Dave Whitlinger, executive director of the NYeC, believes that the connectivity between DataMotion and the SHIN-NY provides New York-based health organizations with an important new option in HISP services. “Direct Secure Messaging is a critical tool for providers in New York State. It will improve their ability to more efficiently collaborate and coordinate care for their patients. We are pleased to be able to offer this option to members of the Statewide Health Information Network of New York.”
DataMotion has also been named a Certified HISP by the Pennsylvania eHealth Partnership Authority (PA eHealth). The goal of the independent agency is to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes in the state through the secure exchange of health information. According to the Executive Director of PA eHealth, Allix Goss: “Certified HISPs, like DataMotion, must meet rigorous technical criteria to ensure that our providers have a trusted source for secure communications that will enhance their healthcare services.”
DataMotion, which possesses more than 15 years of experience in secure data delivery, has achieved strong and continued success in healthcare since expanding operations to become a HISP and launching DataMotion Direct in 2012. In the past three months alone, the company has reported the addition of key personnel, new partnerships and technology, as well as a number of high-profile deployments, including:
- Kathleen Ridder Crampton was appointed to DataMotion’s Board of Directors. Crampton’s career spans health insurance, hospital management, healthcare consulting and involvement in early stage venture-funded companies. She was President and CEO of United Healthcare of Florida, Inc. Community Plan, and Centene Corporation: Managed Health Services of Wisconsin and Buckeye Community Health Plan of Ohio. She has held additional executive posts with such names as PriceWaterhouse Coopers, HealthTech Services, Harvard Pilgrim Health Plan, Boston Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
- Launch of the DataMotion™ Direct Community Web Portal. Through the service, Eligible Hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals can rapidly begin attestation for the transition of care objectives of MU2 by enabling the secure transfer of PHI from one care setting to another, even if an affiliate provider is not equipped with Direct secure messaging or a certified EHR system.
- MEDITECH Solutions Group within Dell added DataMotion Direct secure messaging to its portfolio of services. The group integrates, develops and delivers IT solutions and has demonstrated MEDITECH expertise in more than 1,000 hospitals worldwide. DataMotion has already enabled many MEDITECH customers to attest for MU2 and qualify for financial incentives.
- DataMotion was designated by Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN) as an Approved Direct Vendor for the organization and the Direct Marketplace for Michigan.
- DataMotion Direct also enabled Cumberland Medical Center, a 189-bed regional hospital and a member of Covenant Health - East Tennessee’s leading healthcare provider network - to successfully meet a tight April 1 deadline for starting MU2 attestation.
“Healthcare and solution providers recognize our legacy in secure data delivery which means they are well positioned to achieve their MU2 and quality of care objectives,” said Bob Bales, CEO of DataMotion. “Whenever there’s a market opportunity, there will be vendors and service providers who rush in that lack what’s necessary to do the job right, the first time, and a lot of ‘hard lessons’ are learned by customers. We’ve earned our success the way we always have – with proven technology and expertise– and it’s extremely validating that we have been embraced as one of the most trusted HISPs in healthcare.”
