HIT pros well-paid, satisfied, according to annual survey
Health IT professionals earn a mean salary of $89,879.43 with 30 percent earning an average bonus of $13,100.52, according to the 2014 HealthITJobs.com Salary Report.
Project managers led the lists with an average salary of $111,648.73, followed by healthcare informatics at $94,275.05; systems analysts at $81,574.31; and implementation consultants at $80,907.41.
Those with more than 20 years of experience earned an average of $145,133.33 compared with those who have two or fewer years of experience who earn an average of $70,158.65. The report even compared salaries of those who have experience with specific vendors’ EHR systems with Epic pros ranking the highest at $97,115.99.
The vast majority—80 percent—of respondents are satisfied with their job. The top five reasons for that job satisfaction are: the ability to learn new skills (66 percent); ability to advance in their careers (59 percent); income potential (56 percent); flexibility (53 percent); and the ability “to do what I do best every day” (52 percent).
The survey was conducted during July and August, 2014.
