Russell Kohl, MD, FAAFP, elected president of American Health Quality Association

Austin, Texas – July 10, 2018 – Russell Kohl, MD, FAACP, assumed his role as president of the American Health Quality Association (AHQA) at the AHQA Quality Summit on July 9.  Dr. Kohl, the chief medical officer for TMF Health Quality Institute, was voted in as AHQA president-elect at the 2017 conference.

AHQA is an educational, not-for-profit national membership association dedicated to promoting and facilitating fundamental change that improves the quality of health care in America.

AHQA represents Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) and other professionals working to improve health care quality and patient safety. As a leading QIO, TMF Health Quality Institute is pleased to have an active role in the association.

As chief medical officer for TMF, Dr. Kohl works to support quality improvement efforts and leads the TMF Innovation Team. As president of AHQA, Dr. Kohl will work on behalf of the QIO program and fellow QIOs to extend programs and initiatives that focus on bettering patient care and health care improvement.

As a family physician, Dr. Kohl strives to identify what is truly important to and for patients, how to measure those things and to improve them in collaboration with everything from solo primary care offices to academic health care systems. He also serves as vice-speaker of the American Association of Family Physicians Congress of Delegates.
