Cleveland Clinic CEO could become Trump’s VA Secretary
Toby Cosgrove, MD, CEO of the Cleveland Clinic, is reportedly a contender to run the Department of Veterans Affairs in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.
According to Bloomberg, Cosgrove met with Trump Dec. 19 at his Palm Beach, Florida, estate.
The longtime head of the Cleveland Clinic has some connection with Trump already, having been named to a panel of presidential economic advisers which will meet beginning in February. He’s also used to being considered for the VA position. He was on President Barack Obama’s shortlist in 2014 after the agency was rocked by reports of treatment being delayed and records being falsified to mask long wait times for appointments.
Cosgrove, a veteran of the Vietnam War, withdrew from consideration to remain at the Cleveland Clinic.
