Haven opens first healthcare plans
The healthcare joint venture between JPMorgan Chase, Amazon and Berkshire Hathaway is testing out its first health plan, Bloomberg reported. The joint venture, which is known as Haven and is led by Atul Gawande, MD, MPH, was created at the start of 2018 with the goal of addressing the healthcare needs of the 1.1 million employees across the three companies.
JPMorgan is currently offering its 30,000 employees two health plans in Arizona and Ohio under the new program, Haven Healthcare. The two plans, run by Cigna and Aetna, will be offered for the 2020 plan year for about 20% of the bank’s workforce in the U.S., according to Bloomberg.
The company is also planning to monitor employee reactions to the new offerings, as part of the overall effort to make healthcare more transparent and affordable. The co-pays for the plans range from $15 to $110, according to Bloomberg.
Meanwhile, Amazon is offering four plans that were created with Haven and insurers, for employees in Connecticut, North Carolina, Utah and Wisconsin.
