Former CDC head pleads guilty in sexual misconduct incident

Thomas Frieden, MD, former director of the CDC, pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct violation after he was arrested last year for sexual misconduct, the Associated Press reported.

Frieden, who served as director of the CDC from 2009 to 2017, was accused of forcibly grabbing a woman on the buttocks at his home in Brookyln Heights, New York. He was arrested on three charges in August 2018. The incident allegedly took place in October 2017.

While he pleaded guilty in Brooklyn Criminal Court, the violation is not considered a crime, and he does not admit guilt in the groping allegation, the AP reported.
