In its proposed budget for fiscal year 2027, President Donald Trump’s administration is floating a 10% cut to federal government spending across the board with one notable exception: The Department of War. For military and defense, the White House is seeking an additional 44%. 

Bridgeport Hospital, part of Yale New Haven Health, is accused in a lawsuit of not staffing an overnight physician in an intensive care unit. It’s alleged that the remote care coordination caused delays that led to the death of 26-year-old Conor Hylton, who was experiencing emergency seizure-like symptoms.

On Tuesday, a judge formally rejected a motion by the company to have the case dismissed. Carelon Behavioral Health, a subsidiary of Elevance, is accused of publishing an inaccurate directory of providers for those seeking mental health services.

In a statement, Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital said the incident occurred on Jan. 31. Stolen information included names, medical record numbers, Social Security numbers and more. No cybercrime gang has claimed credit for the data breach.

In total, 131 hospitals are acting as plaintiffs. They’re asking a court to throw out 2023 changes to the Disproportionate Share Hospital calculation that altered the way Medicare Advantage and Social Security income were factored into the risk-adjusted payments hospitals receive for caring for vulnerable patient populations.

Copilot Health will be able to use information such as medical histories, lab results and data from wearables to answer complicated healthcare questions. Microsoft said patients who use the app can rest assured all data shared with the AI is encrypted and can be deleted at any time. 

The nonprofit said it intends to appeal the U.S. District Court’s decision, though it will comply with the ruling for now. Five Tenet hospitals filed the lawsuit in April 2025, accusing Leapfrog of issuing ratings via a pay-to-play model.

The approval, made as part of a special FDA pilot program, took just 50 days.

The organization has grown significantly in recent years, and like similar imaging groups, faced mounting challenges in automating core front-office functions, verifying insurance benefits and helping staff struggling to keeping up with it all.
