Healthcare and public health organizations have been alerted to another ransomware threat––this time from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

A cardiology practice in Florida and several of its cardiologists have agreed to pay $2 million to resolve allegations that they violated the False Claims Act and committed fraud. As a part of the agreement, there has been no determination of liability.

The practice and many of its cardiologists allegedly submitted false claims to Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE and the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program. 

Health Exec caught up with Rob Kim, chief technology officer at digital solutions provider Presidio, to understand what healthcare organizations should do after a data breach.
