Trump touts forthcoming healthcare plan

President Trump is promising a new healthcare plan for the nation in recent media interviews, though there have been scant details so far.

In an interview with ABC News on Sunday, Trump stated, “We already have the concept of the plan” for “phenomenal healthcare.” However, he did not elaborate on any details of the plan. According to Trump, the plan will be announced in “about two months, maybe less.”

He also called Obamacare a “disaster.”

The comment comes about two years after Trump and Congressional Republicans attempted to overturn the Affordable Care Act in its entirety. The measure failed in Congress.

Since then, a Republican-led lawsuit against the healthcare law has made its way through the courts, with the Department of Justice taking the unusual step of not defending the law. Democrats have taken up the position to defend the ACA in court, and the case is currently in the appeals process after a federal judge declared the law was unconstitutional.
