HIPAA-compliant telehealth service improves access to medical marijuana

Patients may be able to receive medical marijuana delivered via a new telehealth platform provided by Columbia Care. The New York-based company's HIPAA-compliant video conferencing software will provide homebound patients a secure delivery service for medication.

The combination of telehealth and delivery services provides patients with a video conferencing session with a pharmacist as well as the ability to order medication for home delivery. Currently with 450 users, the platform aims to expand to other states to give every patient the opportunity to receive their medication in a secure and efficient manner.

“The plan is to pilot services in New York, and if they’re successful, we can expand to other states,” said Nick Vita, CEO of Columbia Care.
