Virginia REC selects athenahealth as EHR partner

Virginia HIT, the federally designated Health IT regional extension center (REC) for Virginia, in partnership with the Center for Innovative Technology, has selected athenahealth as an EHR program partner to reach nearly 2,300 primary care physicians across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Virginia HIT's services include onsite technical assistance to small and rural primary care practices in selecting and implementing a certified EHR. Virginia HIT is a component of healthcare consulting firm Virginia Healthcare Quality Center.

athenahealth's web-based EHR service, athenaClinicals, will provide clinicians a platform which will be continually updated, according to the Watertown, Mass.-based company.
