Vets receive tablets to offer remote monitoring of vital signs

Northwell Health Home Care Network, New York's largest healthcare provider, announced Feb. 6 it had reached an agreement with Health Recovery Solutions (HRS) to provide in-home patients with Bluetooth-enabled tablets that can transmit vital signs to clinicians and allow for videoconferencing.

“Telemonitoring is a wonderful tool to help reduce re-hospitalizations,” said Diane Asquino, RN, Northwell’s director of patient services. “It engages the patient in managing their health by helping them to identify symptoms early. If they think something is wrong, they can notify their physicians immediately to reduce hospitalizations.”

Telemonitoring capabilities include a digital weight monitor and a stethoscope that assesses heart and lung functions.
