U.S. patient monitoring market expected to top $5B

The U.S. patient monitoring market is projected to exceed $5 billion by 2020, thanks in part to strong growth in the telehealth market, according to iData Research.

The country’s telehealth market is projected to experience double-digit growth through 2020  and telehealth for disease management will represent more than half of the total telehealth market by 2020, due to rising demand for customized healthcare solutions, increased chronic illness and limited healthcare budgets.

Awareness and implementation of standards for reimbursement and adoption of this type of care management will further fuel this growth. Also, both public and private organizations are expected to spend more on telehealth in the next few years, according to the research firm.
