CalRHIO has developed a sustainable business model to ensure that a statewide health information exchange can not only be deployed in California, but also maintained and continually improved. Under a Shared Savings financial model, health plan members who benefit from the HIE pay CalRHIO only when the proven cost of healthcare savings can be objectively quantified by a neutral third party.
