Telemedicine PTSD treatment just as effective as in-person therapy

Researchers from the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina, have found that therapy via telemedicine is just as effective as an in-person session for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Reuters reports.

The study, published in Behaviour Research and Therapy, included more than 130 veterans who were randomly assigned therapy sessions at a VA medical center or at home by video conference.

Results showed that vets treated at home showed improvements similar to those who received treatment in a clinic. Though the modes of therapy were similar, veterans receiving home-based treatment did report more difficulty getting it.
