Telemedicine platform delivers long-distance care to transgender patients

Telemedicine has been able to help treat several types of patients, but it now is helping transgender patients throughout the country, according to a new report in the San Francisco Chronicle.

A telemedicine service designed specifically for transgender patients, TransLine, provides clinician-to-clinician support. It offers basic email consultation and is operated through volunteer clinicians.

“This is a much-needed service,” said Lyon-Martin’s trans health manager, JM Jaffe, who manages TransLine. “There really is nothing else like it in the country, or even the world as far as we know.”

If passed, this bill would help clinician-led clinical registries explore Medicare data for research purposes. The Society of Thoracic Surgeons and American College of Cardiology both shared public support for the bipartisan legislation.
