Siemens lands CT install in new U.K. hospital

Queen Alexandra Hospital, a new facility that is part of Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust in Portsmouth, England, has installed a Somatom Definition AS+ dual-source CT scanner from Siemens Healthcare.

The scanner will facilitate the trust in carrying out cardiac scans for the first time, said the company. In addition to the installation, the opening of the facility prompted an equipment transfer project, in which a Magnetom Symphony MRI and two Somatom Sensation CT scanners from another hospital within the trust were moved to Queen Alexandra Hospital. The technology will be used for inpatient scans, pediatric scans, cardiac work and trauma procedures, said the company.
