S.D. hospital expands use of Versus RTLS

Avera McKennan University Hospital, of Sioux Falls, S.D., will use Versus’s real-time locating system (RTLS) technology in the Avera Surgery Center, a new ambulatory surgery center scheduled to open in July.

The Avera Surgery Center, which occupies 34,000 square feet of space in the newly constructed Avera Cancer Institute, will use Versus Advantages Clinic RTLS to track patient location, wait times and other data, according to Versus, of Traverse City, Mich.

Each patient who enters the Avera Surgery Center will be provided a Versus locating badge. With this badge, staff will be able to identify a patient's location, wait time and status, according to Versus. Staff can also use the RTLS to determine how long a patient waits at each stage of the process, from registration to discharge, and can aggregate data for patients and providers, the company said.
