Public opinion on ONC’s interoperability roadmap runs the gamut

The public comments are now part of the public record, and—excuse the pun—they’re all over the (road)map.

“We applaud the ONC’s national roadmap efforts and look forward to continued engagement,” wrote David Grinberg, deputy executive director of the Pennsylvania eHealth Partnership Authority.

“The roadmap should be a dead end at the exam room door,” wrote Kris Held, MD, co-founder of American Doctors 4 Truth.

Healthcare consultant Ijeoma Adele opined that the ONC and partners need to be agile to achieve the roadmap’s worthwhile goals while also staying “sensitive in approach to the cultural barriers of professionals who may never adopt such technology.”

ONC’s May publication of individuals’ views follows the April 3 closing of the public-comment period. Earlier, after initial release in January, the agency’s draft Shared Nationwide Interoperability Roadmap won support from a strong showing of stakeholder groups.

The public comments are as copious in quantity as they are varied in perspective, and ONC has published them all online
