Philips updates voice recognition device
Philips Speech Processing has the released the third generation of its SpeechMike audio recording devices, adding functions that were previously limited to the wireless SpeechMike Air to the company’s wired dictation devices.
In addition to an antimicrobial surface, the redesigned SpeechMike features noise-reduction technology that minimizes noise interference to provide greater accuracy in voice recognition. The updated line also features ergonomic improvements, including:
The current software development kit, SpeechMike SDK 2.7, enables developers to integrate the SpeechMike in additional software environments such as medical or legal information systems, the company said.

- Larger dictation function buttons, which facilitate fast, convenient thumb control;
- A newly positioned trackball with a laser sensor that allows precise cursor movements and contains an integrated confirmation button for simple control of PC functions; and
- An integrated LED indicator that displays current recording status.
