Memorial Healthcare joins Caris Life Sciences, dabbles with tumor technology
Caris Life Sciences, a biotechnology company, has added Memorial Healthcare System to its precision medicine network.
Memorial Healthcare, based in Hollywood, Florida, is one of the country’s largest healthcare systems, the companies said in a statement.
Memorial will adopt Caris’s standards of care and best practices for integrating molecular profiling in oncology practices. They will also begin offering patients personalized medicine in clinical settings.
Caris offers a tumor profiling service that helps physicians identify therapy options and clinical trial opportunities for patients with cancerous tumors. The technology correlates molecular data from a tumor with biomarker and drug associations from recent clinical and scientific cancer research. It’s used across the network and has helped to develop clinically actionable reports for more than 95,000 patients as of press time.
"We are excited to join the Caris Precision Medicine Network and expand access to premier tumor profiling for patients across Florida," said Luis Raez, MD, medical director of Memorial Health’s cancer institute. "We are also eager to join the collective effort of the Network to capture and track protein and genomic information with matched clinical data on a massive level to create a robust genomic foundation and inform guidelines and standards of care for tumor profiling."
