MedVantx, BCBS offer med management to R.I. medical homes

Healthcare company MedVantx and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island are collaborating on an initiative to provide Rhode Island patient-centered medical home practices with free, initial courses of prescription and over-the-counter medications via MedStart, MedVantx's sample management system, at the point of care in physician offices.

The MedVantx consumer medication management platform provides physicians with access to a formulary of free generic, brand, and over-the-counter medications covering chronic conditions, according to the San Diego-based MedVantx.

The system automates the pharmaceutical sampling process for physicians, captures physician sampling data for inclusion in patients' online medical record and provides consumers access to state drug and disease educational materials, the company added.
