lifeIMAGE releases open APIs

lifeIMAGE is releasing certain open application programming interfaces (APIs) that can be used by developers of healthcare IT or imaging devices to enable the secure exchange of medical images and related patient records directly from its software.

With API integration, providers can enable existing systems to tap into the lifeIMAGE network, offering the ability to share imaging exams and reports. PACS, EMR, dictation and reporting, CD/DVD writer, visualization or personal health record application vendors can integrate with open APIs to give end-users a workflow for sharing patients’ imaging history, according to Newton, Mass.-based lifeIMAGE.

lifeIMAGE APIs are currently used in conjunction with systems from Epic, WebMD, ClearCanvas and Sorna.
