Lexmark updates RFID for laser printers
Lexmark International has introduced an update to its radiofrequency identification (RFID) ultra-high frequency (UHF) technology for the firm's T654 monochrome laser printer.
The Lexington, Ky.-based Lexmark said its RFID UHF option is designed as an add-on accessory, in place of a drawer, for Lexmark's T654 monochrome laser printer. The option, offered at an estimated price of $2,499, delivers:
The RFID UHF solution has the radio and antenna built into the printer option, so customers who own a Lexmark T654 printer can leverage their current Lexmark investment and upgrade their T654 into an RFID-enabled device, the company said. Customers that do not have a Lexmark T654 printer can order the device, along with the RFID UHF option.

- Printing of RFID label media up to 20 pages per minute in RFID mode;
- RFID tags can be placed either horizontally or vertically on the print media; and
- A range of media support from 5 inches x 7 inches to 8.5 inches x 14 inches.
