Konica Minolta ready to enter digital health in a big way
Konica Minolta Business Innovation Center (BIC) has set its sights on digital health, launching a telemedicine pilot and announcing plans to seek investments and acquisitions.
Konica Minolta has served healthcare providers for over 30 years with diagnostic imaging, healthcare IT and office automation.
BIC chose SnapMD's telemedicine platform for the pilot, citing its industry-leading security, seamless connectivity, flexible integrations and improved efficiency, according to a release.
The BIC's exploration of telemedicine solutions is based on input provided by the BIC's Healthcare Advisory Council (HAC), composed of 12 distinguished industry leaders.
“We are looking for unique and differentiated healthcare solutions at the point-of-care," Ekta Sahasi, VP of Konica Minolta Business Innovation Center in North America, said in a release. "Our initial focus is telemedicine, where we are working with SnapMD because of their well-designed business model and their exceptional, easy to use platform. As the Konica Minolta BIC expands beyond telemedicine, we will be working with more digital health companies to drive an integrated solution set that will deliver superior value to our customers and the patients. We expect to drive rich ecosystem partnerships, investments and potential acquisitions to accelerate our efforts.”
“The growth of telehealth services is expanding and will accelerate in 2016 as healthcare providers utilize telemedicine technologies as a new way to expand access to convenient and high-quality care across their service lines," said Dave Skibinski, president and CEO of SnapMD.
