Inova to build genomics research lab on former Exxon campus

Inova Health System, the largest health system in Washington, D.C.'s Northern Virginia suburbs, will build a high-tech campus, including a cancer center and genomics research laboratory, on property in Merrifield, Va., the organization is acquiring from Exxon-Mobil, the Washington Post reports. The 117-acre campus "would combine a medical school with laboratories and Inova’s high-profile Translational Medicine Institute," according to the Post.

Inova CEO J. Knox Singleton said told the Post that the Falls Church, Va.-based organization will take advantage of the strong cloud computing and data analytics industry in Northern Virginia to apply translational medicine to develop advanced treatments for cancer and other diseases.
