Indiana FSSA names first health IT coordinator

The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) has appointed Andrew VanZee to serve as the state’s first health IT coordinator.

Beginning next month, VanZee will be responsible for managing the allocation of $10.3 million in ARRA health IT funding the state received in March. He will work closely with Indiana's state designated entity, Indiana Health IT and its board of directors to determine the best use for the health IT funding.

He will also work with local, state, federal and private partners to build collaboration with Indiana's other ARRA health information exchange (HIE) funding recipients, including Purdue's Regional Extension Center, Ivy Tech, and the Indiana HIE, which was recently awarded a Beacon Community grant.

In addition, VanZee will ensure that FSSA's Medicaid health IT efforts are properly coordinated and integrated with statewide HIE/health IT initiatives. Prior to joining FSSA, he served for seven years as vice president of provider networks and operations at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
