IHE: Forcare demonstrates user access, document-sharing profiles

Forcare successfully demonstrated a series of new profiles to accelerate the implementation of health information exchanges (HIEs) at the North American Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) connectathon, held last month in Chicago.

Among these new profiles is the cross-community Access (XCA) profile that allows for connecting HIEs that have based their infrastructure on the principles of IHE’s cross-enterprise document sharing profile, according to the Dutch healthcare interoperability software developer.

Another profile that was validated is the cross-enterprise user assertion (XUA) profile, according to Forcare. The XUA profile facilitates the exchange of user information to enable access control, Forcare added.
