The company said its healthcare informatics systems and patient monitoring capabilities in the areas of radiology, cardiology, critical care and women’s health provide patient data to support clinical decision making and drive care protocols.
Its healthcare IT line has grown through in-house R&D and through acquisitions, and the IntelliSphere brand will help unite these technologies as well as provide continuity, according to Philips, which said it would begin releasing IntelliSphere-branded products later this year.
“No solution will provide all the answers. There’s going to be less money in the system and we can’t reverse demographics. So we need to get a lot smarter about the way we combine systems with systems' to provide actionable information for clinical decision making," said Dale Wiggins, chief technology officer of healthcare informatics at Philips.
At the HIMSS10 Interoperability Showcase, Philips teamed with Emergin to show how triggered events from devices such as patient monitors, bed systems and infusion pumps can be dispatched to communication devices, including one-way pagers, wireless phones and patient room communication devices.
