The Healthcare Information and Management Systems (HIMSS) and the Accredited Standards Committee X12 (ASC X12) have signed a memorandum of understanding to formalize their decision to collaborate on activities and offerings that improve or enhance the implementation of electronic data interchange (EDI) standards in the healthcare industry.

The two organizations intend to collaborate in the development of educational materials, conference presentations, webinars, white papers, articles and reports, Chicago-based HIMSS stated.
