Healthcare well represented among biz tech magazine's top companies

InformationWeek, an online magazine examining technology in the business world, recently unveiled its Elite 100, a list of the nation’s most innovative organizations. The healthcare and medical industry boasted 17 companies in the top 100, with another seven representing biotech and pharmaceuticals.

The rankings and research were announced May 2-3 alongside the InformationWeek Elite100 Conference in Las Vegas.

“We see predictive analytics being used, quite literally, to save lives,” Susan Nunziata, editorial director for InformationWeek, wrote in an accompanying editorial. “We see applications being applied to global operations in ways that advance the speed of business. And we see digital services that are helping companies completely replace old business models.”

The top five organizations in the healthcare industry were:

Pfizer Inc. and AstraZeneca were tops for pharmaceuticals at 34 and 39, respectively.
