Global wireless EHR market projected at $23.5B by 2018

The global market for wireless EHRs will reach $23.5 billion by 2018, representing a five-year compound annual growth rate of 16.1 percent from 2013 to 2018, predicts BCC Research, a Mass.-based firm, in a recent report.

As governments worldwide prioritize EHR implementation, the market is expected to surge. “Recent focus on meaningful EHR adoption across hospitals and a parallel growth with respect to mobile technologies have resulted in the evolution of the wireless EHR market,” according to the research company.

Wireless EHR-compatible devices streamline data and data storage options while providing analytics data both inside and outside the traditional hospital system. Such data is useful in monitoring a patient’s state of health, providing alerts and encouraging medication adherence, the report finds.
