GE upgrades EMR, ePrescribing technology

GE Healthcare IT has updated its Centricity Enterprise EMR clinical, financial and administrative software package. The company also has integrated two-factor authentication into its Advanced ePrescribing technology for Centricity EMR.

Centricity Enterprise EMR 6.9 includes enhancements to CPOE and order workflow, configurable patient and assignment views, e-prescribing and eligibility/formulary checking. It also provides a new registries module to support quality measures and building of discharge instructions based on diagnosis, medications, problems and allergies, according to the company.

The company has also integrated two-factor authentication in its Advanced ePrescribing solution for Centricity EMR. The Advanced ePrescribing system includes an external fingerprint scanner that verifies physicians’ identity when they order prescriptions.

In addition, Advanced ePrescribing creates a paperless audit trail, which helps facilities maintain a complete record of patient care, according to GE.
