The FDA has cleared Hitachi Medical Systems to market its Echelon Oval 1.5T MR system.

The Echelon Oval features a patient-shaped design, and a 74 cm oval bore. The system seeks to address patient accessibility, clinical capability and workflow, according to the Twinsburg, Ohio-based Hitachi. It includes imaging techniques, such as non-contrast MR angiography, isotropic image acquisition and fat suppression. Hitachi’s Workflow Integrated Technology suite of features, such as an integrated coil system and wide mobile table, also is included.
