Ethicon, Touch Surgery to offer surgical education around the world

The partnership of Ethicon and Touch Surgery is making surgical education available to the whole world using operating room simulations through a mobile app.

With the goal to improve patient outcomes and educate surgeons on the safest and most effective ways to perform surgeries, the companies developed a free mobile app available around the world.

The two have developed an app to teach surgeons more than 75 different procedures. Currently being used by more than one million users, the app is able to reach those in even the most remote places. Teaching surgeons in areas where medical medication in limited is the ultimate goal for the companies, and in the future they hope to incorporate more procedures into the app.

"We're looking to improve the standards of surgical care and treatment around the world, accelerating our pace of innovation and aiding the training of more physicians through collaborations such as this agreement with Touch Surgery," said Michael del Prado, chairman of Ethicon. "It reflects our broad-based approach to innovation and is another important step toward developing a trusted education ecosystem that improves patient outcomes."
