EMC provides cloud infrastructure for image sharing service

RIS/PACS developer DR Systems used virtual computing infrastructure technology from EMC to create eMix, a cloud computing service for sharing medical imaging studies.

Through data center virtualization built on a cloud-based architecture, eMix allows sharing of images and reports between institutions and physicians via the internet, according to San Diego-based DR Systems. eMix can also facilitate associating patient images to EMRs and patients' personal health records, which eliminates the need for the provider facility to burn CDs, print films or fax reports, the company said.
